No — Ukrainians, Belarusians and EU citizens (including Poles) all enter Brazil visa-free for tourist stays.

• Rio and southern beaches: December–March — peak summer (+28–35°C); April–October — milder, cheaper, less rain

Brazil requires heightened awareness — tourist zones are generally safe, but knowing the rules in advance makes all the difference.

• Safe areas in Rio: Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Santa Teresa; avoid peripheral favelas without a guide
• Don't display smartphones or jewellery on the street — pickpocketing is common
• Use Uber or licensed taxis only — never get into an unlicensed vehicle
• Nature areas (Amazon, Pantanal) — safe with a guide; malaria present in parts of the Amazon state

• Açaí — powder or frozen packs; a fraction of the European price and incomparably fresher at source
• Handmade ceramics from Bahia — colourful figurines and bowls crafted in the Afro-Brazilian tradition; best found in Salvador's Pelourinho district
